Bobby Marks believes Steph Curry is Top 2 player of all-time

Let the debate rage on.

After Steph Curry won his fourth title and first career NBA Finals MVP last month, the discussion around his legacy has centered around his Top-10 of all-time credentials. ESPN front office expert Bobby Marks took it a step further, claiming that Curry is second only to Michael Jordan.

Marks made his bold claim from Las Vegas Tuesday while appearing on a panel with ESPN’s NBA Today show.

“Watching him during these playoffs and certainly during that Finals,” Marks said, “LeBron is a heck of a player – a great player – but as I said, I saw Jordan in his prime in the 90s. Curry reminds me a lot of that offensively, where he is a threat to beat you in a lot of different ways here. I think we got three or four more years of Prime Curry leading up. Right now, I’m gonna stick with it – gonna stick with saying he is the second-best player of all-time.”

LeBron stans surely won’t like that take. To say nothing of Bill Russell, Kareem Adbul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal and others.

To me, the crux of Marks’ argument is that he believes we still have three to four more seasons of Peak Steph, which is a scary proposition for the rest of the league. Curry’s shooting percentages dropped last season, but he clearly turned it up in the postseason and the Finals when it mattered most. His conditioning and physical shape is stuff of legend at this point.

Considering that the next young wave of Warriors is on the way – James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody are expected to play together for the first time in Tuesday night’s Summer League matchup – Golden State looks to be in good shape going forward.

Whether Steph will be remembered as Top 2 all time? Let’s check back in when his career is over, as he could still and some more championship trophies and MVPs to his mantle.
