Curry, CP3 led bench guide Warriors to bounce back win in Detroit

Stephen Curry scored 34 points and made seven threes as the Warriors bounced back from their first road loss of the season outscoring the Pistons 37-25 in the fourth quarter to beat the Pistons 120-109 in Detroit.

The win improved the Warriors to 6-2 on the season and 5-1 on the road. Golden State is now 2-1 on the four game road trip with the finale against the defending champion Nuggets in Denver on Wednesday night. Here are some key takeaways from the win.


Curry spectacular again

Stephen Curry, who was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday, scored 16 of his 34 in the first quarter and became the first player in NBA history to make at least four three-pointers in the first eight games of the season. Curry hit seven three’s for the second night in a row and the fourth time in eight games.

Paint points and crashing the boards

The Warriors had 17 offensive rebounds that led to 26 second chance points and outscored the Pistons 52-32 in the paint.

Bench dominance continues

Chris Paul led a balanced bench scoring output with 17 points as the Warriors more than doubled up the Pistons 49-24. Dario Saric pitched in 12 while Jonathan Kuminga scored 10 in the second half. Warriors reserves have outscored their opponents by 107 points, 331-224 (41.4 to 28.0 ppg) to begin the season. Paul has 29 assists with 0 turnovers over the last four games.
