A few hours before the Warriors hosted the Lakers in Game 5 of the second round, trailing 3-1 with the season on the line, Daryle ‘The Guru’ Johnson channeled his inner Steve Kerr and gave listeners on 95.7 The Game a taste of what it’d be like if he was coaching the Warriors.
Guru always brings the passion on his takes and pre-game speeches, but this one was FIRE even by Guru’s standards.
Meanwhile, "Steiny & Guru" co-host Matt Steinmetz and “Willard & Dibs” hosts Mark Willard and Dan Dibley were just speechless, riveted by Coach Gu’s message.
“We’re Warriors!” Guru yelled. “Four-time champs! They think we’re not connected, that’s my fault! But I need you to help me! Help your brother! Look in the mirror! Michael Jackson! Man in the Mirror! And play your asses off! We’ll be here Friday night in LA! If you can’t do that, we can’t win! Bring it in! 1-2-3, Warriors!”
Classic Guru. If that doesn’t get you fired up nothing will.
