Draymond's favorite Klay memory involves a fake fight in a Miami club

Klay Thompson is as tough as they come — as evidenced when he took his free throws after tearing his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals — but he may not be as tough as he makes himself out to be to his own teammates.

Draymond Green, who participated in a Bleacher Report “Ask Me Anything” on Wednesday, was asked to describe his favorite Klay Thompson moment, which led to an off-the-court story about how a possibly not very sober Thompson once had to get stitches around his eye.

“In a hotel in Miami, he ran into a wall and busted his eye open with stitches,” Green said. “He tried to lie to us and get his friend to lie and say he got into a fight at the club. When you’re leaving the club in Miami, you’re not always sober and he tried to tell us he got into a fight.”

Getting into a fight certainly sounds a lot cooler than bumping your head into the wall after a night out in Miami, but it does not sound as if his teammates, at least certainly not Green, were buying the story.

Despite whatever shenanigans Thompson may have gotten into on that Miami night, he still carries a ton of respect from Green.

The Warriors have been without their 31-year-old shooting guard the last two seasons due to injuries and the team has visibly not been the same.

But with a healthy Thompson, Green believes the Warriors can return to their true form.

“I think we’ll win the Finals again next year [with a healthy Thompson],” he said. “Zero doubt.”
