TNT’s “Inside the NBA” brought a set to Thrive City on Wednesday night for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Warriors and Mavericks. Charles Barkley’s appearance on the set outside of Chase Center made him public enemy No. 1 for Dub Nation after his recent comments comparing San Francisco to hell. Barkley also had a NSFW response for the crowd Monday night once he was heckled.
Beloved TNT commentator Ernie Johnson joined 95.7 The Game Thursday to chat with Damon Ratto and Whitey Gleason about Barkley, the atmosphere on Monday night and the Warriors’ championship aspirations. Check out the full interview below:
“Welcome to my world, fellas,” Johnson said. “That’s kinda how it is when we take the show on the road. I’m used to it and I think Chuckster enjoys it to a certain degree. … That comes with the territory and I love every second of it, Almost every second of it.”
While Barkley said he hates The City by The Bay, Johnson said he and his wife have been making trips out to San Francisco for decades.
“I’m not saying this just because I’m on the show with you, but I love San Francisco,” Johnson said. “Always have.”
Johnson also said that Golden State is built to make another championship run. The Warriors took a 1-0 series lead with a dominating 112-87 on Monday.
As for the hijinks for Barkley, it’s just part of the deal.
“Taking the show on the road for us has always been great for us,”Johnson said. “Whether it’s All-Star weekend or the Conference Finals. When you’re in the studio, you do your thing. But when you’re on the road, it’s great to interact with fans.”
