When Andre Iguodala watches Steph Curry play basketball or Michael Jordan highlights, he usually takes a peek over to the visiting bench. Oftentimes, an opponent’s raw reaction will tell you everything you need to know.
Iguodala and co-host Evan Turner debuted their podcast “Point Forward” Wednesday with a two-episode drop, with one featuring Steph and another featuring Isiah Thomas. As Iguodala and Turner discussed Curry’s gravitas on the floor, Turner shared a funny anecdote about how he low-key turned into a Steph fan in the middle of a game.
Turner spent most of his NBA career in the Eastern Conference but battled Steph and the Warriors frequently from 2016-19 when he was part of the Portland Trail Blazers.
“We were playing one time – one of the million times – you got so hot in a certain instance,” Turner told Curry. “You done hit three straight, but then you hit the fourth [shot] and I wanted to turn up, like, ‘Go crazy! Go crazy!’ You know what I mean?”
Imagine that. Turner loving a Curry Flurry.
Just one time, it’d be hilarious to see an opposing player openly root for Curry in a game by accident. Not even NBA players are immune to fawning at greatness up close. If anything, they have a greater understanding.
“When you’re a fan of basketball and a fan of the game,” Turner said. “You start to comprehend what you’re seeing. As a fan and as a player, you always appreciate it. It’s always been that part, where you really remove yourself and you can really appreciate what you do.”

The entire episode is fascinating, as Iguodala and Curry peel back the curtain on the Warriors and the NBA industry at-large. Andre joins outspoken teammate Draymond Green as Warriors who have launched podcasts in the past few weeks. Iguodala’s intelligence and impeccably sharp wit shine as a podcast host, as he also delves into his other interests like cryptocurrency and how it’s affecting player contracts in American sports.
While Green is targeting a Monday return, Iguodala remains out for Thursday’s contest against the Denver Nuggets. Iguodala has played in 26 of the Warriors’ 66 contests. He has only appeared in six minutes over the past 21 games while dealing with knee, hip and back issues.
At least the Warriors’ injured veterans are making the most out of their rehab time. You can hear the conversation at the 31:57 mark here.
