Financial details of Patrick Baldwin Jr.'s rookie contract

PBJ is officially an inked-up member of the Dubs.

The Warriors announced Wednesday night that first-round pick Patrick Baldwin Jr. has been signed to rookie-scale contract. The folks over at Spotrac offered a financial breakdown of the deal for the No. 28 overall pick out of The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Baldwin has signed a four-year contract worth $13.99 million, though only the first two seasons are guaranteed. He is due to make $2.2 million in 2022-23, and $2.3 million in 2023-24, before the Warriors hold a $2.4 million club option in 2024-25 and he would be eligible for a contract extension in the summer of 2025. Baldwin is due to make $4.4 million in 2025-26 under his current rookie deal.

The 19-year-old is rehabbing an ankle injury that kept him out of the three-game California Classic last week at Chase Center. The Warriors are yet to announce his expected availability for the upcoming five-game Summer League in Las Vegas, which kicks off Friday night with a 5 p.m. PT matchup against the New York Knicks on ESPN.

Baldwin is viewed as something of an upside pick, as he was limited to just 11 games in his lone college season due to the ankle injury, while his father coached the team. The 6-foot-9 shooter averaged 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 28.5 minutes per game but shot just 34.4 percent from the field and 26.6 percent from 3-point land. Baldwin will wear the No. 7 jersey with the Warriors.

"Size, mostly. Skilled. IQ," Warriors general manager Bob Myers said of Baldwin on draft night. "We watched some film with him and you can tell he's a coach's son. Our system requires pretty high-level thinking. He’s versatile and we think he can play with some of our guys. He’s what you might call a shooting big in some capacity but he can also pass. He handled (the ball) a little bit in college. Just checks a lot of boxes but he has gonna have to put it together."
