Steph Curry is the Golden State Warriors franchise. The always brutally honest Joe Lacob joined The Morning Roast with Bonta and Shasky on Wednesday morning for a full hour in studio and Lacob didn't hold back his admiration for Curry.
"What he’s done for the organization, I can’t even put into words... How much I admire him, respect him. He is a phenomenal human being… I want him to be with us, our organization for a very, very long time. Even beyond his playing years.”
Curry is signed for three more seasons, through 2025-26. The Warriors just inked Draymond Green to a new four year deal that could keep him in a Dubs uniform through 2026-27 and Klay Thompson is currently in negotiations with the team on an extension of his own.
Lacob addressed his desire to keep those three around, "I would love more than anything to keep those three guys here through the entirety of their career and we’re gonna try to do that."
Lacob also discussed the Chris Paul/Jordan Poole trade saying he thinks the deal, "is a great move. I'm EXTREMELY excited about this team," while noting every deal has two sides, "It was hard to trade Jordan Poole, it killed me to do that."
After nearly four and half years, Kevin Durant is finally on track to play inside Chase Center with fans for the first time since leaving the Warriors in the summer of 2019, when Golden State hosts the Suns on opening night next Tuesday. Lacob had a message for Warriors fans in attendance.
“I want to say this to all of our fans, it needs to be, it should be and it will be a tremendous ovation for a guy that helped us win two world championships… I have nothing but the highest regard for him.”
