Steve Kerr on 95.7: Warriors won't find better than CP3 and GPII at trade deadline

The Warriors finally got back in the win column Tuesday night, but with a week to go before the February 8 trade deadline, is it enough to prevent the team from selling?

Steve Kerr joined Willard and Dibs Wednesday and discussed the prospects of a trade.

As far as two guys on the mend in Chris Paul and Gary Payton II, Kerr indicated that he didn't think the Warriors could add better talent than them.

"Yeah, I mean, we're not going to find better players than those guys in a trade," Kerr said. "It's exceedingly rare to make a deal where you can upgrade your talent to that level. So I'm excited about getting those guys back, Moses too you. We've been short-handed these last couple of weeks, but all three of those guys can really help us for sure."

Willard pressed Kerr about the comment, saying it sounded unlikely the Warriors made any trade, and whether that was in fact the case.

Kerr didn't rule anything out, but wasn't expectant.

"I think a deal is almost always unlikely, but that doesn't mean a deal won't happen," Kerr said. "That's Mike's job anyway. It's really not anything that I concern myself with. Mike will obviously call me and keep me in the loop if something's going on.

"But the fact is, most trade deadlines, not much happens. So you just try to do the best you can with what's happening at that particular time with the team and that's what we're doing right now. I think we're getting better. I know we've had two really tough losses this week. But I like the direction our team is trending and I like the guys who are coming back off of injury."

The Warriors will be action Friday night in Memphis, in the first of a five-game road stand.
