Klay Thompson absolutely explodes with perfect start vs. Kings

That’s the Klay Thompson everyone has been waiting to see.

Throughout his career, the Warriors sharpshooter has had some absolutely incendiary moments. For the first time since coming back from his two-and-a-half year absence on Jan. 9, Thompson went ballistic in Thursday night's 126-114 win against the Sacramento Kings.

By the time there was 8:49 left in the second quarter, Thompson was already a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 6-of-6 from 3-point land.

In the process, Thompson passed basketball legend Kobe Bryant for 20th place on the NBA's all-time 3-point leaderboard.

You couldn’t see an explosion like that and help but think about Thompson’s NBA record of 14 made 3-pointers in a game, which he set in 2018 against the Chicago Bulls. But Thompson finished the contest by going 7-of-9 from 3-point land and 8-of-11 from the field en route to 23 points.

After his early flurry, Thompson only scored one more bucket -- with 8:02 left in the fourth quarter. But it was a doozy, a transition 3-pointer following a creative reverse slam from Jonathan Kuminga. Klay capped it off with some kisses for the crowd, too.

This isn’t the first time Thompson has bamboozled the Kings with a flurry. Back in 2015, Klay set another NBA record by scoring 37 points in a quarter.
