Kyrie Irving fined $50K for 'obscene gestures,' 'profane language'

Kyrie Irving's antics during Sunday's Celtics-Nets Game 1 will cost him some money. The NBA announced on Tuesday that Irving has been fined $50,000 for "making obscene gestures on the playing court and directing profane language toward the spectator stands."

That is the maximum the league can fine a player.

Irving was captured giving the middle finger to Celtics fans on multiple occasions during the Celtics' 115-114 victory. Another video showed him telling a Celtics fan to "suck my d---, b----" after the fan shouted, "Kyrie, you suck!"

Irving has been relentlessly booed and heckled at TD Garden since he left the Celtics to sign with the Nets after previously saying he planned to re-sign with Boston and wanted to see his number hanging from the Garden rafters one day.

Irving said before this series that he was done revisiting his time in Boston and hoped everyone could move on. Clearly, that has not happened -- from either side.

Wednesday night's Game 2 should be interesting. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at TD Garden.
