LeBron James on why he wants to play with Steph Curry before he retires: 'He's lethal'

Ahead of the newest episode of his show "The Shop," a clip has been released showing LeBron James addressing some of the players in the NBA, past and present, that he would love to play with. His son Bronny is of course No. 1 on his list, but outside of him, Steph Curry is the star 'The King' wants to play with the most.

During the sitdown discussion that featured rappers Gunna and Rick Ross, James was asked why he picked Curry. The Lakers superstar described the Warriors' point guard as “lethal" and showered the three-time NBA Champion with a lot of admiration.

“Steph Curry. Steph Curry’s the one I want to play with, for sure. In today’s game,” said James when speaking on his show. “Right now it’s Steph. Man, I love everything about that guy. Lethal. When [Steph] gets out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena… you might want to guard him when he gets out of bed.”

This isn’t the first time James has shown love toward Curry. Before he broke the all-time 3 point record, James spoke to reporters in December, saying how amazing Curry's feat is.

“If there’s one guy in NBA history that can make 16 threes, it’s Steph Curry. I’m literally sitting there doing the calculations in my head. I’m like ‘16. OK I know he’s made 12 a few times. Well if there’s someone that can do it, it’ll be him.’ That just lets you know how incredible he is.”

James also named Scottie Pippen as his top pick for past NBA players he'd love to play with, stating that he saw his game in Pippen.

"Obviously MJ was crazy, Kobe would’ve been another one. But Scottie Pippen and Penny Hardaway was like my two… Because I see myself in them."

Although teaming up with Curry would be a change of pace from Russell Westbrook and intriguing to see how their games would mesh together, James and Curry are both getting up there in age (James is 37, Curry is 34) meaning that a move would have to happen sooner rather than later.

While James will be watching the playoffs from the sidelines, the Warriors will end the season as the third or fourth seed in the Western Conference. Head coach Steve Kerr is positive that Curry will be available come playoff time.

"He is on the court getting shots up," Kerr said of Curry. "He's been able to ramp things up a bit."

As for the Lakers, there will likely be another mass roster shift, that may or may not include their coach Frank Vogel or even their GM Rob Pelinka who bears a lot of the blame for the construction of the 2021-22 Lakers squad.

James currently has one more year left on his deal with Los Angeles worth $44 million.
