Anthony Slater on Warriors trade: 'I think something gets done'

The Golden State Warriors are back to .500, but it hasn't seemed like they're close to exceeding that mediocre threshold. They appear stuck in no-man's land, and with the trade deadline a week away, the question is whether the Warriors will opt to stand pat.

The Morning Roast hosted The Athletic's Anthony Slater and asked him whether the Warriors would simply stand, or make a move at the deadline. He thinks they'll make a trade. And he thinks a first-round pick could be on the table.

"I think something gets done," Slater said. And I think it's even possible they throw a first in there, this year's first, I think is possible to be used, protected. Just because I think there's a desire from the front office to shake it up a little bit, to see something different, maybe try a different rotation piece, reposition a salary, just to maybe make a little bit of a better mini run this year, while also protecting the assets that would allow them to go bigger game hunting this summer.

"And I do think there's going to be those type of middle-tier players on the board, especially if you throw — if you throw a protected first rounder into the mix, you can get into a lot more conversations."

Slater also said he would be "stunned" if the Warriors were to traded Jonathan Kuminga this year, and explained why.
