With 1:27 left in Wednesday night’s matchup between the Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers, Steph Curry decided to pull up from 28 feet.
It’s a good thing he did. He splashed it and with the bucket, outscored his brother, 76ers shooting guard Seth Curry, by one point. Bragging rights and the victory for big bro. Steph said he had no idea that his final trifecta gave him 25 points to his brother’s 24.
“He reminded me right after the game,” Steph said. “I didn’t know the stakes were so high on that shot. I knew the game was over and I was wide open.”
The Currys had plenty to cheer for the night before Thanksgiving. Sonya and Ayesha Curry were in the house at Chase Center, too, along with Sydel Curry-Lee, who is married to Warriors forward Damion Lee. It’s also worth mentioning that Seth is married to Callie Curry (née Rivers), the daughter of his coach Doc Rivers.
Between the Currys and Lee (five points) there were 54 points scored by the fam. Steph’s final 3-pointer gave the Warriors a 116-96 victory and moved his record to 13-2 against Seth all-time.
Steph finished 9-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point land. Seth went 8-for-16 from the floor, 0-for-5 from three but 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
During their lopsided brotherly battles, Steph -- who is two years older -- has been wearing a Warriors jersey the whole time. Seth has dueled his brother while playing for the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers and Sixers since 2015.
We all know about Steph’s MVP-caliber level of play this season, but Seth’s game is also nice in 2021. He dictated the 76ers offense Wednesday and led all first-half scorers with 17 points, getting to the hoop past the Warriors’ top-rated defense.
“That dude’s playing unbelievable basketball,” Steph said. “It’s fun to watch and he’s continuing to get better. He goes at his own pace, he’s so under control. The fact he did what he did tonight and he didn’t even make a three. It’s impressive the way that he’s playing and the way that he’s stepping into his own identity as a scorer and playmaker and all that. Proud brother.”
Seth is playing the third season of his four-year, $32 million contract he signed with the Mavericks in 2019. He’s posting career bests in points per game (15.9) and field goal percentage (50.3) while proving he can be more than just a shooter. His 41.1 percent clip from 3-point range is actually down from his ridiculous 44.2 percent career clip.

At one point early in the game Wednesday, Steph entered the game and went to guard Seth before the two shared a quick word.
“He had fresh legs because he missed the last game,” Curry said. “Two days off does wonders for guys in the league. He looked very spry out there with his moves and his fresh legs. He was giving us that business in the first quarter.”
To be fair, Steph also gave Seth the business on this early 3-pointer.
There’s plenty to talk about around the Thanksgiving dinner table for the Currys.
