Has it been seven years already?
Back on Feb. 27, 2016, Steph Curry stunned the crowd at Oklahoma City when he pulled up from 38 feet out and hit a last-second game-winner in overtime. The play was immortalized by a great call from TV play-by-play man Mike Breen, who gave it the double “BANG! BANG!” treatment on the mic.
While the Warriors were back in the arena in OKC for practice on Monday evening, Curry recreated his shot, complete with a leap into his imaginary teammates on the bench. Of course he made the shot, because he’s Steph Curry.
Golden State lost Sunday in his first contest back from an 11-game absence due to a leg injury, but his teammates went wild on the bench before he even hoisted a 3-pointer in another classic Steph magic moment.
He’s had a lot of epic shots in his career, but that one in OKC will always be memorable, as the game was super intense, Steph was on his way to a unanimous MVP and the Warriors were en route to an NBA regular-season record 73 wins.
Curry recently commemorated the moment with a new line of shoes, and gifted the first pair to Breen for his call.
At 34 years old, Steph still has his superpowers. The Warriors are going to need them to finish strong in the regular season, as there are only 17 games remaining before the playoffs, or dreaded play-in tournament.
