Rookie Moses Moody has been a revelation over the past few weeks, helping shore up the loss of injured veterans like Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green.
For Warriors coach Steve Kerr, this recent string of production from Moody has been months in the making. Kerr joined 95.7 The Game’s “Damon & Ratto” Friday to discuss the No. 14 overall pick and much more. You can hear the full interview below:
“We’ve been talking about Moody in our coaches’ meetings everyday for about six weeks, because we’ve seen it coming,” Kerr told hosts Damon Bruce and Ray Ratto. “In practices, in the G League games that he’s played, in his demeanor and his instincts and his questions.”
In 42 games this season, Moody is averaging 11.6 minutes, 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Over the past five contests, including three starts and a career-high 30-point game, Moody is averaging 13.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range. But Kerr said the franchise has been most impressed with Moody’s intelligence.
“He’s 19 going on 28,” Kerr said. “This guy is just so mature and he’s got a great size and he shoots the ball so well. I saw it coming, but it probably took a little more time to allow it to happen just because of the changes that were already happening with our team, with the injuries, [Jonathan] Kuminga playing more. It had to be the right time and now it seems like the right time for Moses.”
