Steve Kerr jokes about Darvin Ham going on court vs. Jordan Poole

When Warriors guard Jordan Poole hoisted his last-minute 3-pointer in Game 1 against the Lakers on Tuesday, he might have felt some extra noise in his left ear.

Lakers coach Darvin Ham was on the floor and even waved an arm at Poole as he launched a 27-footer that clanked out and helped secure a 117-112 victory for Los Angeles.

During his weekly appearance with 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” Wednesday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr joked that Ham and Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown have been playing a little defense throughout the playoffs so far.

“It is interesting,” Kerr told hosts Mark Willard and Dan Dibley. “We watched Mike Brown spend a lot of time on the court during the Sacramento series. It seems to be a league-wide thing – coaches just joining the action. I don’t know if the NBA has any problem with it, but I suppose I should be getting out on the floor more, too.”

Kerr won five NBA titles as a sharpshooting role player, so Dibs joked that the coach should jump in on offense when the Warriors are on his side of the floor.

“I’m open, guys! Throw me the ball!” Kerr quipped.

The NBA is notorious for having somewhat of a ‘Hear no evil, see no evil’ culture, but we’ll have to see if the league has a response now that Kerr has made public comments about coaches crossing the line.
