Steve Kerr on 95.7 The Game: Curry ecstatic to be 'back in the mix' at Olympics

The United States pulled off one of the most exciting wins in Olympic history Thursday in a 95-91 semifinal win over Serbia. If you missed it, you'll have to watch it. Stephen Curry went thermonuclear, scoring 36 points, one shy of Carmelo Anthony's 2012 record. Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Joel Embiid led the Americans to overcome a 17-point deficit.

Steve Kerr called into the Morning Roast from Paris to break it all down.

"It's the ultimate competition and to be a part of it and feel that game, obviously we were able to pull it out," Kerr said. "This is going to go down as one of the all-time great Olympic games and our guys were just incredible. I mean, under that kind of pressure to perform the way they did was just amazing."

Kerr raved about the ability to coach other players, the likes of which he usually has to game plan for. He singled out LeBron James in particular.

"To be able to coach LeBron rather than coach against him, it's so amazing," Kerr said. "And just to see them all together, performing, sharing the ball and competing together, fighting the way they have to fight. You know, these are these are all future Hall of Famers. And it's just so fun to to watch them day after day prepare for this and be so engaged and also enjoying the process so much. These guys are are incredible and they're obviously they're used to trying to beat each other. So I think they take a lot of pleasure in being on the same team for once."

One comment that was notable, though not all that surprising, was about Curry's enjoyment throughout these Olympics.

Kerr revealed a comment from Curry that indicated how thrilled he is to be part of an elite competition, and that hunger he has after not being part of it the last couple seasons.

"He said to me last week how excited he is to be back in the mix," Kerr said. "And obviously last season was tough for all of us not making the playoffs and this is a special feeling to advance to a stage like this with a competitive nature like Steph's. It's what he lives for him. He's so excited to be, as he said, back in the mix, back in the championship picture and trying to win something special. He's absolutely having the time of his life."

Those two and the entire United States roster remains a game away from a gold medal. They'll face the home team, France, for that chance on Saturday. Listen to Kerr's full interview above.
