Jordan Poole iconic buzzer-beater still has the basketball world buzzing as Game 3 of the NBA Finals approaches. You can hear Wednesday night's 6 p.m. PT tip-off on 95.7 The Game, radio home of the Golden State Warirors.
To cap off a ridiculous 19-2 run to end the third quarter in Game 2 on Sunday night, Poole showed off a saucy dribble before swishing in a halfcourter from 39-feet out. In the days since, NBA Twitter has been sharing replays of Poole’s shot and how it sounded in different languages around the world.
So, how did it sound with Tim Roye on 95.7 The Game? Listen for yourself.
“Poole crosses halfcourt, fades and fires from halfcourt on the way …” Roye says on the call. “He got it! He hit it from halfcourt! Poole walks away and says, ‘Yes, sir! I got this!’ Steph Curry goes over, ‘Well done, young padawan. Well done.’”
What a great call from the longtime voice of the Dubs. Star Wars fans probably like the last tag line, too.
Timothy Burke (aka @bubbaprog) on Twitter shared Roye’s fantastic call along with other foreign languages like French, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese. The Warriors must have liked the idea, because they also put together a Poole supercut showing the bucket in every language.
(Easter egg: Check out Bill Simmons’ reaction on the right side of the screen at the 24-second mark).
There’s still a few hours before Game 3 tips off, so you have plenty of time to enjoy this highlight once or 17 more times.
