Dub Nation shows support for Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski

It’s only NBA Summer League, but you can’t fault rookies like Warriors first-round pick Brandin Podziemski for feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders.

The past three weeks have been a whirlwind for Podziemski since he was drafted No. 19 overall by the Warriors out of Santa Clara University. Podziemski’s first taste of NBA action hasn’t gone as planned, as he’s struggled with his shot through his first five games of the exhibition action.

On Wednesday night, after going 1-of-10 from the field, Podziemski sent out a tweet regarding his poor shooting and vowed to get it right.

Many fans got flashbacks to Steph Curry’s infamous tweet to Warriors fans in 2009, when he promised the fanbase that they’d figure it out. Curry was just a rookie then and has since become one of the game’s all-time greats.

Fans aren’t expecting Podziemski to be the second coming of Curry and win two MVPs and four titles, but they are hoping to see his shot fall at a better rate.

In five Summer League games so far, Podziemski has shot just 30.6 percent from the field and 26.1 percent from 3-point land against fringe NBA competition. While he has shown flashes of being a solid playmaker and rebounder, his defense has also left some wondering how he’ll fare at the next level.

Expectations are low for the 20-year-old to make an impact on this year’s veteran-laden roster stocked with guard depth, but Podziemski clearly expects more from himself. Warriors fans responded to his tweet to let him know they’re not worried about five exhibition games. Check out some of the top replies and quote tweets from Wednesday:
