Golden State is keeping it in the family.
The Warriors announced a host of personnel changes in the organization and have named Steve Kerr’s son, Nicholas, the new coach of the G League Santa Cruz Warriors.
Kerr, 30, has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Santa Cruz following three years in Golden State’s video department. Kerr moves up after former Santa Cruz coach Seth Cooper and general manager David Fatoki were named Directors of Player Development.
It’s also worth noting that Kent Lacob, son of Warriors owner Joe, has been promoted to Vice President of Basketball development, as he will be a right-hand man for new general manager Mike Dunleavy.
On the Golden State staff, Kris Weems has been promoted to assistant coach after Jama Mahlalela left for the Toronto Raptors this offseason.
