The Warriors gave injury updates on Klay Thompson and James Wiseman ahead of training camp.
The team said Thompson, who has missed the last two seasons with a torn left ACL and a torn right Achilles, has made good progress over the summer and is on pace to return for the 2021-22 season. They didn't give a date on when he'll return to full practices or game action, but did say he's expected to participate in controlled drills during training camp.
Thompson had surgery on his right Achilles on November 25, 2020. There has been speculation that he's aiming to return on Christmas Day, but the Warriors have said they are going to be patient with his return.
They also said Wiseman, who suffered a right meniscal tear and underwent surgery on April 15, has made good progress. He will only participate in controlled, individual portions of training camp and expected to begin full jumping around October 15. The Warriors tip-off the regular season on October 19 so it appears Wiseman will miss the start of the season.
