Draymond Green is expected to be out until at least the All-Star break as he deals with a calf/back disc issue that has kept him sidelined since making a ceremonial start on Klay Day on Jan. 9.
The Warriors offered a brief update on Green’s status Tuesday, saying, “Warriors forward Draymond Green, who has been sidelined for the last 12 games due to a lower back/disc injury, was recently re-examined. The examination indicated that Green is making steps in a positive direction and the injury is improving. He will be re-evaluated again prior to the All-Star break.”
The All-Star break will take place from Feb. 18-23 as the game will be hosted Feb. 20 in Cleveland. The Warriors play eight more games until the break, starting with Tuesday's matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
During his bi-weekly appearance on 95.7 The Game's "The Morning Roast: Executive Show" Tuesday, Warriors president/GM Bob Myers sounded optimistic despite the uncertainty.
"He’s progressing well," Myers told hosts Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky. "He’s in there working, he’s getting stronger. Everything is trending right."
The Warriors have kept an upbeat disposition about Draymond’s injury as he has been sidelined, but it still sounds like there is still an undefined timetable for Green’s return. Any time you’re dealing with a back injury, it seems scary. Many basketball fans have been quick to think about Hall of Famer Larry Bird, whose career was slowed by chronic back problems.
Golden State initially struggled without Green but have rattled off a six-game win streak and are 9-4 in the games since his absence. Before his injury, Green was looking like an All-Star and playing inspired ball. Aside from his defensive orchestration on one of the league’s top units, Green is also the team’s leading facilitator. He is averaging 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.

Considering that James Wiseman has been out all year and Nemanja Bjelica is dealing with back spasms, the Warriors are very thin in the frontcourt.
Golden State will send out a makeshift roster for Tuesday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, as Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins will get the night off.
