It’s been a while since we heard some Kevin Durant drama, so Shams Charania of The Athletic whipped up the rumor mill again Monday morning.
According to Shams, the Memphis Grizzlies are interested in pairing Durant with superstar Ja Morant, but are unwilling to part with Jaren Jackson Jr. or Desmond Bane in a potential trade package. Instead, Memphis hopes to acquire KD with their bevy of draft picks, which on its face, doesn’t seem like a real possibility.
Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky of 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast” shared their thoughts on the latest rumor and they don’t think there’s a fire behind the smoke.
“You’re not gonna get away with just trading draft picks for Kevin Durant,” Hill said. “That’s not happening.”
“And you gotta match up some of the salary,” Shasky said.
“No doubt,” Hill said. “And if you’re (general manager) Sean Marks of the Brooklyn Nets, or you’re Joe Tsai, the owner of the Brooklyn Nets – you’re not just, ‘Hey, yeah, we’re gonna take draft picks in the low 20s,’ because you’re gonna be contending with Kevin Durant and Ja Morant. That’s just not good enough.”
“I would ask for Bane and JJ,” Shasky said.
“Absolutely,” Hill said. “It starts with JJ and Bane.”
