All of Dub Nation is still feeling the impact of Steph Curry’s foot injury.
Warriors basketball operations consultant Zaza Pachulia joined 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast” for his bi-weekly appearance Tuesday and to discuss Steph’s absence and more. Check out the full interview below:
“It’s very, very unfortunate,” Pachulia told hosts Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky. “I really feel bad for a lot of people actually, from the coaching staff to [director of sports medicine and performance] Rick Celebrini to deal with all these injuries, but at the same time understanding that unfortunately, this is part of the game. Injuries are part of the game.”
Steph told reporters Sunday he’s optimistic he’ll be able to return for the start of the playoffs. The Warriors have 11 regular season games remaining before the first round begins April 16.
“I trust Steph,” Pachulia said. “He’s not a rookie, hes not a kid. He’s very experienced and he’s a veteran player. He knows what he’s doing. He’s been there before, he’s done it. I think it’s very, very important for us to feel good. Of course we’re worried, we wish it never happened, but at the same time, we trust Steph’s experience. I’m very confident because he’s confident that he’s gonna come back.”
Third-year guard Jordan Poole enters Tuesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic riding a nine-game streak of scoring at least 20 points. Poole figures to be key for the Warriors’ chances at winning without Steph.
“This kid is amazing all of us,” Pachulia said. “Not only Warriors fans but just basketball fans. He’s such a great player. His moves are so pure, so fancy. He definitely has charisma as well. You can’t compare him to anyone. He’s Jordan Poole. That’s what I love about him and what I love about his game – his ability to shoot from outside. The open court, he’s so fast and so creative with the ball. I just love watching him.”
