(105.3 The Fan) Kristaps Porzingis, the Dallas Mavericks' new star player, is recovering after a violent altercation in his home country of Latvia.
Porzingis was reportedly jumped at a nightclub over the weekend, and was seen walking out with his shirt ripped and a bloody eye.
Video of the aftermath of the incident shows an agitated Porzingis pushing someone out of the way and approaching a group of men before several people stopped him and urged him to calm down.
Porzingis was traded to the Mavericks from the New York Knicks earlier this year. A source told TMZ Sports that a handful of Russians confronted Porzingis because they were upset he switched teams.
Porzingis, 23, has yet to play a game for the Mavericks. He spent this past season rehabbing his torn ACL
Porzingis also is the subject of a police investigation in New York after a woman said he sexually assaulted her last year.
In a statement, the Mavericks said they were aware of the incident in Latvia, and are working to learn more.
