The New York Mets have acquired RHP Chris Bassitt from the Oakland Athletics for two minor-league RHPS, Adam Oller and J.T. Ginn.
Bassitt, 33, had a stellar season with the A’s in 2021, going 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 27 starts. He struck out 159 against 39 walks in 157 1/3 innings, and had a 1.055 WHIP while being named to his first All-Star team and finishing tenth in AL Cy Young voting.

The righty, originally a 16th-round pick of the White Sox in 2011, has a 3.47 career ERA in seven seasons with Chicago and Oakland, and is projected to make nearly $9 million in his final arbitration year after making $4.9 million last season.
Bassitt adds more depth to a Mets rotation fronted by Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer, likely to slot in somewhere with Carlos Carrasco and Taijuan Walker in the back end, allowing the Mets to keep players like David Peterson, Tylor Megill, and Jordan Yamamoto as Triple-A depth.
Oller, 27, was claimed off waivers from San Francisco in December 2019 but did not pitch in 2020. His lone official season with the Mets was split between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse, where he was 9-4 with a 3.45 ERA in 23 starts, with 138 strikeouts in 120 innings.
Ginn, 22, was the Mets’ second-round pick in 2020. He split his rookie season between Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn, going 5-5 with a 3.33 ERA in 92 innings over 18 starts.
