Golden State Warriors fans will never forget July 4, 2016, the day Kevin Durant announced he was going to Oakland. What fans may not know is Barack Obama tried to convince him not to join the Dubs.

Durant revealed on "The Corp" podcast that he had a private meeting with Obama (who is a big basketball fan), at the White House shortly after going into free agency.

KD said they discussed what he could do to help the community in his hometown of Washington D.C., but when he first walked in Obama didn't wait to ask, "So where you going?"

"He's a huge basketball fan," Durant said of Obama. "At that point, I was just going into free agency and everybody in the world wanted to know if I was leaving the Thunder. So that was the first thing he asked when I walked in, 'So where you going? You can't go over there with those shooters over there. It'd be too much.'"

KD then said, "In my mind, I was like, 'That's where I'm going.'"
