The Bears will sign quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year deal, a source confirmed Tuesday afternoon. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news.

Dalton, 33, will get $10 million with the chance to earn up to $3 million more in incentives, according to the report. The Bears can't make the deal official until 3 p.m. CT Wednesday, when the new league year opens.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Dalton has played 10 NFL seasons, the first nine with the Bengals before he joined the Cowboys in 2020. He played 11 games in Dallas last season, starting nine after Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury.

Dalton completed 64.9% of his passes for 2,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions while posting an 87.3 quarterback rating in 2020. He has a career 87.5 quarterback rating.

The Bears had an opening at quarterback after allowing Mitchell Trubisky, the No. 2 overall pick in 2017, to become an unrestricted free agent. Nick Foles is the other Bears quarterback who's under contract.
