(93.7 The Fan) - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference will cancel all sporting events through the end of 2020.
The decision will impact athletes at 17 Pennsylvania based colleges and one West Virginia based school. 16 of those schools compete in football.
A halt of athletics through the end of the year would also impact the start of winter athletics.
The PSAC’s member schools are Bloomsburg, California, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Gannon, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Mercyhurst, Millersville, Pittsburgh-Johnson, Seton Hill, Shepherd, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester.
Only Mansfield and Pittsburgh-Johnstown do not participate in football.
In addition to football, soccer, cross country, golf, field hockey, and volleyball also are active in the fall.
A decision on an attempt to move fall sports to the spring is expected in an official announcement from the conference Wednesday morning.
