Rockets dominate Warriors in 4th quarter to force decisive Game 7 in Houston

The Houston Rockets dominated the fourth quarter of Friday night's Game 6 matchup against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.

Now, the Warriors are facing elimination in a Game 7 on Sunday at Toyota Center in Houston.

The Rockets won 115-107, but the score was not indicative of how thoroughly they outplayed Golden State in the final period. Houston was led once again by veteran point guard Fred VanVleet, who had 29 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3. VanVleet also added 8 assists and 8 rebounds.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and Draymond Green both spoke after the game about VanVleet's four-point play to open the fourth quarter, when Golden State failed to match up with him, then inexplicably fouled him on the 3-point shot.

Houston led by just two points at the start of the fourth quarter, but that play started a 20-5 run over the next eight minutes by the Rockets and Golden State never recovered.

Alperen Sengun was brilliant once again with 21 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Steven Adams was crucial off the bench on both ends of the floor, scoring 17 points with 3 blocks and completely altering the Warriors' strategy.

Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 29 points, but shot just 9-of-23 from the field and 6-of-16 from 3. Jimmy Butler had 27 points, 12 of which came from the free throw line.

No other Warriors starter scored in double figures, including Buddy Hield's scoreless performance. Moses Moddy came off the bench for 13 points and Brandin Podziemski added 10 points.

Game 7 is Sunday at 5:30 p.m. PT.
