As more and more Americans continue to get vaccinated, things are starting to look promising for NFL fans hoping to go to games again in 2021.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, speaking to reporters amid the owners meetings on Tuesday, said he expects to have “full stadiums in the coming season.”
“We want to see every one of our fans back,” Goodell said, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Most NFL teams did not allow fans to attend games last season while others allowed a limited capacity. As the season went on, some teams and states began easing restrictions or allowed fans to attend playoff games, such as the Buffalo Bills.
Meanwhile, in other sports such as baseball and basketball, teams are beginning to allow fans back and increase capacity limits. Only the Texas Rangers, whose stadium hosted fans during the World Series, have given the green light for full capacity for Opening Day.
The NFL, however, has time working in its advantage with Week 1 five months away. The league is planning to have fans and prospects in attendance for the NFL Draft at the end of April — another step back toward normalcy.
