Who would have thought, at the beginning of the season, we would see a Week 15 matchup between the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns flexed into primetime?
Well, it has happened. The Dec. 20 game between the two squads fighting for a playoff spot was flexed into Sunday Night Football on NBC.
It marks the first Sunday Night Football game for the Giants since Week 2 of the 2018 season against the Dallas Cowboys while the Browns return for the first time since Week 3 of last season – which was the franchise’s first appearance in 11 years in the primetime slot.
The two teams have not had much success in recent year, the Browns historically so, but the two find themselves both in positions to make the postseason.
The Giants are top the NFC East at 5-7 after starting the season 1-7. The Browns are 9-3 and in second place in the AFC North and hold the top wild-card spot heading into Week 14.
The matchup could have had some more juice to it, marking the return of Odell Beckham Jr. against his former team, but he is out for the season with a torn ACL, as is Giants star running back Saquon Barkley.
