49ers could be players for big-name D-linemen [report]

The NFL Combine is in full swing, which means free agency is right around the corner, and the NFL Draft is only a couple months away. What does that all mean for the San Francisco 49ers?

Tim Kawakami of The SF Standard and The TK Show (an Audacy podcast), reported in his column Thursday that the 49ers could make a play for a big-name defensive lineman if they come available. Kawakami wrote here:

"I’ve heard from a few NFL sources that the 49ers have been mentioned as a popular potential destination for at least a few top defensive linemen who have quietly started looking around should they get waived for salary savings or hit the trade market."

He mentioned three names as possibilities, in Trey Hendrickson, Khalil Mack, and even Maxx Crosby, though Crosby would be the most expensive, both too acquire and extend. Read the full column here.
