The first block of 49ers training camp practice have concluded. When things return on Monday, there will be pads. Kyle Shanahan provided a handful of updates Saturday.

Ricky Pearsall

Pearsall suffered a hamstring injury away from the facility and was placed on the non-football injury list. He has been seen rehabbing on the sideline.

Kyle Shanahan said that Pearsall could return Monday, but that it's not guaranteed. Also of note: Herm Edwards told Willard and Dibs that he warned John Lynch that Pearsall (a former player at Arizona State) is an over-worker and has to be protected from himself.

Talanoa Hufanga

Kyle Shanahan didn't indicate the 49ers are likely to add another safety. He said that Hufanga could return "in a week or two."

When pressed, he pointed towards the Saints joint practice weekend of August 16 and 17 in Irvine, California. He said Hufanga will be evaluated again down there, and that's roughly when the 49ers are targeting.

Spencer Burford

Burford was present Saturday afternoon, but he hasn't been involved in 11-on-11s. Shanahan revealed that he suffered a broken hand and the 49ers are in the process of determining whether he'll need surgery. A roughly three-week timeline was provided.
