Well, the 49ers should have George Kittle back this Sunday. There are multiple questions that could linger up to kickoff, but Kittle's status will not be one of them.
The All-Pro tight end spoke to media Wednesday and said definitively that he would play against the Green Bay Packers. He went back to last week and said that while he felt improvement as it went, it did not feel good on Saturday, which just about settled his status.
The other looming question — as well as Trent Williams' status — is that of Nick Bosa. Bosa suffered a left oblique injury, as he said, by overcompensating for the injury to his right oblique. He and Kyle Shanahan were both mum on his status.
“He definitely could be good for Sunday," Shanahan said. "He definitely could not be good for Sunday.”
Bosa described the injury as being more of an upper body than a lower body injury and said he's more bothered by the left side — the one injured this past week — than the right side — the one injured previously. He said it's too early to tell one way or the other whether he's likely or unlikely to play.
Here's the rest of the 49ers' injury report from Wednesday:
Limited:
WR Jacob Cowing (concussion protocol)
Charvarius Ward (personal)
Brock Purdy (right shoulder)
George Kittle (hamstring)
Won’t practice:
Tatum Bethune (knee)
Trent Williams (ankle)
Kevin Givens (groin)
Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/rest - typical)
Nick Bosa (oblique)
Shanahan was also unsure on how Mooney Ward would be used Sunday. It's his first practice back in three weeks after the tragic death of his one-year-old daughter, Amani.
