49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall practiced for the first time this season Monday afternoon. Just 44 days after Pearsall was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in San Francisco, he debuted on the practice field.
Monday marked Pearsall's first official practice since the incident, with the 49ers opening his three-week practice return window from the non-football injury list. Kyle Shanahan said it was unlikely that Pearsall would play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, but that he would evaluate him based on how he looked in practice.
His return did not go unnoticed. Brock Purdy noted Pearsall's full-speed, energized pace brought to a practice that stood out amidst the backdrop of a midseason practice.
There was no official practice update or availability from Kyle Shanahan because Monday was a bonus practice from the Thursday night game.
Of note was the participation of Jordan Mason (left AC joint) in a blue non-contact jersey, Charvarius Ward (knee) and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (calf).
Both kickers were absent, with a shoulder injury for Matthew Wright, and a high ankle sprain for Jake Moody. Safety Malik Mustapha (ankle) and Jordan Elliott (knee) were both rehabbing on a side field.
