The 49ers might be onto their fourth running back by Thursday night. Rookie Isaac Guerendo suffered a foot sprain Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Bears, and led the list of injury updates for the 49ers Monday morning.
Kyle Shanahan indicated that Guerendo's status will be monitored throughout the next few days. There's no clear sign whether he'll play or not against the Rams Thursday.
Elsewhere, Ben Bartch is likely done for the rest of the season after suffering a high ankle sprain. He is expected to be placed on injured reserve. The 49ers will get starting left guard Aaron Banks back, however. He cleared concussion protocol.
One update that wasn't overwhelmingly positive was on Dre Greenlaw. The 49ers have been targeting this Thursday game for a potential return, and while that's still in play. Shanahan didn't make it sound likelier than not.
Shanahan said "there's a chance" that Greenlaw plays.
"We'll see... how he's feeling, how practice goes," Shanahan said.
Both Nick Bosa (hip, oblique) and Trent Williams (ankle) remain in the same situation. There wasn't any indication that they are expected to play Thursday. Dee Winters (ankle) and Malik Mustapha (chest, shoulder) are both day to day. So is Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (knee).
