Practice for the week has concluded. The NFC Championship is on deck. The 49ers and the Lions both released their game status report for Sunday, offering a favorable view on the injury front for San Francisco.
The 49ers' only question mark heading into Sunday was the status of Deebo Samuel, who left the 24-21 win over the Packers with a shoulder injury. However, Samuel practiced (limited) both Thursday and Friday, indicating he was likely to play.
Kyle Shanahan confirmed Friday that Samuel would play. It's solely a pain tolerance matter for Samuel and that there's not a risk for him to worsen the injury by playing.
Shanahan did say that there are two questionable players for Sunday. Linebacker Oren Burks suffered a collision and shoulder injury this week, while defensive tackle Kalia Davis (ankle) had his 21-day injured reserve practice window opened on Wednesday.
Below is the injury report for the Lions:
Out
LG Jonah Jackson (knee)
WR Kalif Raymond (knee)
Questionable
QB Hendon Hooker (tooth)
CB Chase Lucas (illness)
Aside from Hooker being questionable with a (tooth) designation — he had a chipped tooth removed, but will be available as the emergency third QB — the most notable part of Detroit's injury report is the availability of tight end Sam LaPorta and center Frank Ragnow.
Neither is a surprise, given LaPorta has played through the knee injury with a brace for the last two weeks. Ragnow, though, must be commended for playing given that he has more injury designations than most people have ever seen. The second team All-Pro center is dealing with ankle, toe, knee and back injuries but said from the outset of the week that he'd play.
All that's left is to actually play the game, slated for 3:30 p.m. PT Sunday.
