49ers may become top suitors for Daniel Jones [reports]

The 49ers' vibes are not exactly great. They are going into a must-win game Sunday against the Green Bay Packers without Brock Purdy and Nick Bosa.

Given Purdy's absence, and a discernible lack of upside in Brandon Allen, the 49ers could be interested in Giants cast off Daniel Jones, who was released, and will almost certainly clear waivers.

According to the two top insiders around the NFL, the 49ers may pursue him.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, if Purdy could miss the game against the Bills, the 49ers may become the top suitor for Jones, in a list that Rapoport says includes the Ravens and the Raiders.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens and Vikings are "two of the likeliest teams" to land Jones, but that there are a number of other suitors.

Jones has thrown 70 touchdowns and 47 interceptions in his six-year career, and only made it through two years of a four-year, $160 million deal with the Giants.

This all clearly depends on Purdy's status. The injury is being reported as not significant, but also with an abundance of caution. The fact that he missed this week after being expected to recover says plenty.
