49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided updates on the injury status of several key players ahead of the bye week and discussed if a possible change is in store for defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.
Dre Greenlaw has a shoulder sprain, sustained in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Greenlaw had already been dealing with a hamstring injury over the past couple weeks. Greenlaw is day-to-day with the 49ers not scheduled to play again until November 12 at Jacksonville. Starting left guard Aaron Banks has turf toe and he is going to miss "a few weeks" per the head coach. Jon Feliciano would be the next man up at that spot. The 49ers have already been starting Jaylon Moore for the injured Trent Williams.
"Hopefully he'll have a good week this week of rehab and be ready to go when we come back for practice next Monday," Shanahan said of the 49ers starting left tackle.
The other big topic of discussion coming off the loss to the Bengals was the status of defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. More specifically the debate as to whether he would continue to coach from the booth above the field on the press level or move down to coach from the sideline.
Shanahan when asked if there could be a change, “That's something we'll discuss this week, just the two of us. If he felt it would help him that's something we'll try, but we haven't done that yet.”
