This is normally a spot to get basic injury updates ahead of the weekend's matchup, but the Seahawks got some massive, bizarre news Friday afternoon that trumps anything else.

Seattle's starting center, Connor Williams, retired. Williams is 27 and started every game this season for Seattle after coming back from a torn ACL in December.

There is no word yet as to why Williams retired. He did not seem to be playing particularly poorly. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Williams was retiring for a "personal reasons" and declined to divulge more information.

Seattle will now turn to second-year offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi, a fifth-round draft pick out of Michigan in 2023. He's played 132 career snaps on offense and four this season. It's worth noting that Drake Nugent, Michigan's center last year, is on the 49ers' practice squad.
