The 49ers have etched their names into the NFL record books with an interesting tidbit that could bode well for their chances moving forward.
The team's first 11 touchdowns of the 2021 season were all scored by different players, a first since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
The record-clinching score came during Sunday night's thriller against the Packers, when fullback Kyle Juszczyk reeled in a Jimmy Garoppolo pass and rumbled into the end zone to give the Niners their short-lived lead prior to the Packers' fateful final drive.
The Niners have looked good overall, despite questions entering the season about a retooled defense and a murky quarterback picture after the team drafted Trey Lance with the third pick in the first round.
Jimmy Garoppolo has staked an early claim to the starter's job, guiding the team team a 2-1 record with mostly solid play.
Jimmy G has spread the ball around to his receivers. Among the record 11 scores, five came on Garoppolo passes, one apiece to Trent Sherfield, Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, and Brandon Aiyuk, as well as the touchdown by fullback Juszczyk.
In the running game, coach Kyle Shanahan has dialed up touchdown scampers for all of Elijah Mitchell, JaMycal Hasty, Trey Sermon, Lance and Garoppolo.
The other score came on a pick-six by linebacker Dre Greenlaw, in Week 1 against the Lions.
The Niners will host the Seahawks (1-2) in Week 4.
