49ers sign former Green Bay RB to 1-year deal
The 49ers are bringing in a new running back, and they're looking to their not-quite rivals in the Midwest.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers are signing former Green Bay Packers running back Patrick Taylor to a one-year deal.
Taylor, 25, is a University of Memphis product who went undrafted in 2020 before joining the Packers. He's a larger back, at 6-foot-2-inches and around 220 pounds.
He has limited NFL production, with 32 carries for 141 yards last season his season-high. He has one career rushing touchdown.
As you would expect, Taylor is a regular special teams contributor. San Francisco has invested heavily in special teams this offseason, retaining George Odum, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, and bringing in Chase Lucas, Ezekiel Turner and Isaac Yiadom.
It's a crowded room that appears well prepared for the NFL rule changes on kickoffs, which will encourage kickoff returns this season. Taylor will have a chance to join that group.
