49ers waive 2 players after trade, signing of familiar veteran

The 49ers nearly went through the trade deadline without a move, but they pulled off a trade at the very last season. A few more came just after that window shut.

The most notable move of that day was the trade. At the final moment, the 49ers sent a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Houston Texans for defensive tackle Khalil (not Kalia) Davis.

According to Adam Schefter, the team also signed veteran safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. to the practice squad. Gipson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason, but was suspended six games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing policy. He was cut by the Jaguars Monday.

San Francisco made a pair of corresponding moves, one of which indicates Jake Moody will likely return to the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The following came from the team:

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have waived LB Jalen Graham from the team’s active roster and released K Anders Carlson from the practice squad.

Graham (6-3, 220) originally signed to the team’s active roster on October 1, 2024 and appeared in two games with the team.

Carlson (6-5, 219) originally signed to the team’s practice squad on October 15, 2024. He was activated twice as a standard practice squad elevation and connected on each of his five field goal attempts and three of his four extra point attempts.
