SAN FRANCISCO (95.7 the Game) - Needing help at the linebacker position, the San Francisco 49ers signed former Jaguars linebacker Donald Payne to the roster on Wednesday afternoon.
To make room for Payne, the 49ers waived former Chicago Bears wide receiver and No. 7 overall pick, Kevin White.
Since entering the league, White's career has been derailed due to injuries, and he has never been able to reach his full potential.
Payne first entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017, and didn't see the field until the 2019 season with Jacksonville.
That season, Payne recorded 61 total tackles, one sack, one deflection, and one fumble recovery, appearing in nine games with five starts.
Payne has seen the field in 30 games throughout his four-year career.
