Anthony Slater: Curry knee injury 'should be a concern'

The Warriors are in a tailspin right now. After starting off the season as the story of the NBA, they have lost five straight in exhausting fashion.

They will be without both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green Thursday night against the Houston Rockets, as Curry deals with bilateral knee tendonitis and Green deals with calf tightness.

With that in mind, The Athletic's Anthony Slater joined the Morning Roast and discussed where both Curry and Green are at.

With Green, Slater referenced that his previous back injury two years ago began with calf tightness, and that Green intimated on his podcast that it felt similar this time. This time, the Warriors feel they caught it early, but there's not been a definite timeline.

Slater added that people should be worried about Curry's knee injury.

"He's got this knee tendonitis," Slater said. "He's talked about it. It should be a concern to people... He's not being hidden about it. I mean, it's something he's never dealt with. He mentioned the idea, hey, like you get later in your career, this type of stuff pops up, like it just is what it is. He's 36. This should have been a concern to everybody.

How will the Warriors handle it? They'll keep resting him at times and preemptively rest him and limit his minutes at times this season.

"He's 36 years old. He's heading towards the back end of his career," Slater said. "An 82-game season is going to generate these types of bumps and bruises, and they're going to decide, hey, like, you know the next three nights, it's Wolves, Rockets, Rockets. These are some of the fiercest, most physical, biggest teams in the league. And it's just like, Hey, you can't, you can't play him all three out of those four, they've decided."
