Brian Baldinger on Brandon Aiyuk's struggles: 'He looks pedestrian'
NFL insider Brian Baldinger joined The Morning Roast to discuss what went wrong for the San Francisco 49ers against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Baldy touched on Brock Purdy and Jauan Jenning's strong performances and the conversation morphed into a discussion about Brandon Aiyuk's struggles.
"He looks pedestrian, and he's playing like he's pedestrian," Baldy said of Aiyuk on 95.7 The Game. "You don't see the moves to separate. He just doesn't seem like the same person. He doesn't have any sort of swag about him at all."
Aiyuk missed all of training camp before signing a four-year, $120 million extension with the Niners on Aug. 30. Through three games, Aiyuk has yet to cross the 50-yard mark and only has 11 catches for 111 yards. Some have speculated that the wideout is off to a slow start because he didn't have a training camp, and Baldy agrees that has something to do with his struggles.
"Is it (because) of (no) training camp? It's probably a big chunk of it," Baldy said. "No offseason, no training camp, no preseason. And then just go and hit the ground running. ... Maybe it's going take time for him to find that rhythm back into the offense because he's not really heavily involved right now. And he doesn't play like he should be."
