The history between Deebo Samuel and C.J. Gardner-Johnson only gets funnier. Back when the 49ers lost to the Cleveland Browns, Samuel and Gardner-Johnson got into an online spat.
Gardner-Johnson accused Samuel from running from a pregame fight and using Trent Williams as a bodyguard. Samuel responded with the clip of former Bears receiver Javon Wims punching Gardner-Johnson, who then said Samuel "a running back" who Gardner-Johnson can guard and would shut down when the two met. Read about that beef here.
Well, they met. Gardner-Johnson came back from a torn pec late in the year and Samuel played through a shoulder injury Sunday.
In the first half of the game, with the Lions going up 21-7 after an interception, Gardner-Johnson waved goodbye to the crowd at Levi's Stadium.
Gardner-Johnson had taken a cheap shot at Samuel on the interception, waiting to blindside him and then immediately looking at the referees to see if he'd gotten away with it. He did not, and was flagged 15 yards for a personal foul on the return.
But of course, the game had a second half. Fun fact. The 49ers stormed back to win 34-31 and Samuel got the last laugh. He took to Twitter, quote tweeting the video of the Lions safety waving with the following:
"Somebody go check on lil bruh😂😂"
Gardner-Johnson, who played for the Eagles last year and is a free agent this offseason, could well wind up somewhere else. Wherever it is, you'd imagine this isn't the last of the beef between he and Samuel.
