Deebo Samuel, Taybor Pepper discuss sideline scuffle

The 49ers won Sunday in Tampa Bay, but a disastrous special teams day, with three missed kicks and one muffed punt was a major part of the 23-20 win. More than that was Deebo Samuel lighting into Jake Moody after the third miss, and stiff arm to long snapper Taybor Pepper's throat.

"Normally, I don't even get like that," Samuel said, per NBC Sports Bay Area. "But just frustrated in the heat of battle. Close game and I got out of character a little bit. But I'll talk to Moody and we'll get past it... I think he had a little dog in him, a little motivation to go out there and make the field goal. When I was talking to him at first, I wasn't saying nothing crazy to him. I was just kind of frustrated. He went out there and won the game of course. He wasn't bothered by it, so we move past it."

Samuel insisted he and Moody are all good. But he and Taybor Pepper didn't seem like they'd fully hashed it out.

"Nah, I wasn't talking to him," Samuel said. "He just came over and wanted to be big bruh."

Pepper, meanwhile, defended Moody and the special teams unit, per NBC Sports Bay Area.

"He was telling him to lock in," Pepper said of Samuel. "We know what our job is. We got us. It's hard being a specialist. Sometimes it's feast or famine."

Moody said they've "moved past it" with the win and took responsibility. He indicated there hasn't been an apology yet.

"There doesn't need to be [an apology]," Moody said. "Heat of the moment, it happens. I do gotta make those kicks at the end of the day. So that's all I'm focused on."
